Concealed Objects

People could use almost any kind of object or material in their protective magic but certain finds crop up often enough for us to give them their own category. You can find them in the drop down menu.

Some of the smaller objects which turn up can seem a little ambiguous as to whether they were intended as protective objects. For example, iron nails and pins, broken parts of household implements, locks of hair, all of these things and many more besides can be found in use as protective magic. There were a wide range of other methods people could use to protect themselves including rituals, portable charms (whether written, jewellery, herbs), they could ingest ingredients designed for protection too. Not forgetting of course that people believed they could protect themselves with the symbols and books of their religion too.

The focus of the research on this site is of objects and marks which can be found in buildings. This is also the focus of my book on Magical House Protection.
