People in the past have always sought ways to protect places and objects from malign supernatural influences as evidenced by the huge number of concealed shoes and dried cats recovered from buildings in England and beyond. This book explores some of those methods ranging from witch-bottles to patterns in brickwork. All of the 8 chapters within this volume were papers which were presented at the Hidden Charms 4 conference which took place in York on 18th April 2023.
